to Season 2008
It
is with great delight and enthusiasm that I welcome all returning
and new Roos players to the 2008 season. The Roo’s will
again field teams in age groups from Under 6’s to Under
18’s. After a very successful year in 2007 where seven
(7) of our nine (9) teams participated in the MNZ final series.
Our under 16’s were premiers as well as being named
SJRU “Team of the Year”.
The DA has now been lodged for our clubhouse at Keirle Park.
Lighting upgrade on field 1 was completed in 2007 and the
council have now agreed to upgrade the irrigation on this
field as part of a two year ground improvement program.
I
am pleased to announce that our Patrons for 2008 are Gary
Flowers and Jean Hay. The Roo’s are very proud to have
two patrons of such high calibre.
The
club is also embarking on a two year NEW jersey program. The
2008 season will see u 10 through to u16 in the new gear.
The remainder of the club will be upgraded in 2009.
Registration
Fees
The Roo’s principle source of revenue early in the season
is registration fees. Fees are $110 per player and $50 for
additional family members. To continue to encourage more young
people to Manly Roo’s Rugby, a FREE
MOUTHGUARD and 15%
DISCOUNT VOUCHER FOR ALL SPORTS MEDICINE for
the season, will be issued to all players who register, sponsored
by MALOUF’S MANLY PHARMACY.
In addition to this, the Under 6’s and Under 7’s
will again have the registration fee waived this year. Also
we will continue with the FREE
ROO’S HEADGEAR for
new under 8 or new u 9 players. Additional Manly Roo’s
Headgear will be available from the Roo’s Committee.
Also a full list of merchandise will be available during the
year.
Once again, the club is making a concerted effort to collect
all fees early in the season to reduce the administration
burden on team mangers and ensure that we have sufficient
funds to meet the club's early season expenses. We would be
very grateful if you could send your fees to us as soon as
possible, or attend one of our registration days detailed
below. If you can not afford to pay the subscription fees
straight away please let your team manager or I know so we
can come to some arrangement.
This year the club will not register players who have not
paid their fees or made alternative arrangements by round
2 of the competition.

There will be a free sausage sizzle for all those registering.
The
Season
The first round of the competition is on the weekend of March
28/29/30; watch the website (www.roosrugby.com.au) for further
details. Trial matches and training will be on in the weeks
before this. Coaches and Managers assistants please indicate
on the registration form if you can volunteer for your team
to assist either on the field or in administration.
So you can see there is plenty happening. But the most important
thing is for you and your mates to get back on the field playing
rugby for the Roo's in 20087. We look forward to seeing you
back with the “Mighty Roo’s”
